The Translation Commons Localization Group is seeking volunteer Language Leads to act as the linguistic authority for their language. This is a remote opportunity offering the chance to shape linguistic resources and ensure quality across global projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and maintain linguistic resources (dictionaries, style guides, grammar).
- Develop and maintain bilingual glossaries and translation memories.
- Evaluate translation/revision tests for potential volunteers.
- Conduct Linguistic Quality Assurance (LQA) reviews.
- Assign translators/reviewers to projects based on suitability.
- Support translators and reviewers in resolving terminology/translation issues.
- Collaborate with Localization Group Management to improve workflows.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Native speaker of the target language.
- Strong understanding of English as the source language.
- 1+ year of relevant language industry experience.
- Ability to maintain glossaries and translation memories.
- Basic team management and cross-cultural communication skills.
- Weekly commitment of ~5 hours.
